The Concorde

We all are very familiar with this word because it points to a masterpiece in the development of science and technology. The Concorde is the one and only turbojet powered supersonic passenger airliner. It was a result of the contributions by both the English and the French governments and it was first tested in 1969. The mind blowing feature of this supersonic jet is that it could fly at a velocity greater than that of sound. But the same feature has turned out to be a great disadvantage. Whenever the airliner takes off from any runway, the resonance effect of flying at such a high velocity caused all glasses around the runway area to shatter out. It also causes impact to our eardrum when we are around the place where it takes off or lands. Moreover it consumes loads of fuel and also seems have very high maintenance cost. Owing to the economical drop in 2003 and various other precautions, the Concorde was removed from service and now the masterpiece rests peacefully in the Museum.
