Barcode

Barcode refers to the representation of data in the form of lines or various other geometric elements such that the data can be read and interpreted only by a bar code reader. The Barcode reader is an optical device that emits light and from its reflection, it is able to interpret the given data. A normal barcode consists of an arrangement of vertical lines with varying thickness and spacing. This is used worldwide in many fields like billing in supermarkets etc. There are many other kinds of barcodes too like circular ones, dots, squares, hexagonal barcodes and many other 2D barcodes. The Barcode scanner requires special software to retrieve the data from any given barcode. Nowadays, mobile phones are provided with the optical scanner and built in software to read Barcodes.
